Coolfinity (Amstelveen, 2016) – Coolfinity has developed a cooling technology for fridges with intermittent power availability in developing countries. It has developed a 600L fridge integrated with thermal battery to withstand power outages of 12 to 20 hours per day. When the power is off the ice bank technology freezes 50 kg water that functions as a cold battery to maintain temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees Celsius and releases cold air gradually and when power is restored, the ice bank immediately recharges. Useful to keep food, beverages and medicines cold at a stable 3 degrees Celsius. Plans to supply their technology to fridge manufacturers.

The company has launched multiple product lines, one of them being the Inductive Charger to the world’s first AA battery made with 4% recycled batteries. BYD (1996, Shenzhen, IPO) – BYD is a tech enterprise in China specializing in IT, automobile, and new energy. They are the largest supplier of rechargeable batteries in the globe, and has the largest market share for Nickel-cadmium batteries, handset Li-ion batteries, cell-phone chargers and keypads worldwide. Went public in August, 2002.

Sonnen (2010, Wildpoldsried, $98M) – Sonnen offers energy storage system which are integrated with solar systems. The product is targeted at commercial and domestic power consumers for better demand management which will enable users to harvest solar power at night by storing them in batteries and use the device’s inbuilt energy management system to consume the power in an efficient way.
